The photographs from this park reveals the vastitude of Minas Gerais state and the magic of the Sertão so mentioned by Guimarães Rosa in his books. For many miles of grass and bushes, copper colored water creeks blend, to slowly form the São Francisco river. A little further away, the first waterfall gives a feel of the strength that the river will have later on in its way to the sea. The park also shelters endangered animals, such as the Mergus octocetaceus (diving duck), which Jose Caldas uncovered in its hideaway.
